Technologies is busy with the design and testing of a
RFID sports timing system, OpenTime.
The prototype should be fully
operational beginning to mid March. OpenTime
works with all RFID sports
timing tags currently in use in South Africa. For more information on

The
prototype connected to a PC running the OpenTime
software suite. The RFID electronics can be seen on top of the power
supply. The final unit will run on mains power or a 12V car
battery for
portable use.

The mat
worked well with the bike. We managed to
successfully read the RFID tag up to speeds of 30km/h (unfortunately we
couldn't go any faster
without falling off the end of the patio).
